Sleekburn
03 June 2019
With many members unable to attend today it was great that the famous five were able to launch and enjoy an upriver exploration. A late decision to row up the Sleekburn ended with what can only be described as a ‘great adventure’ we joked that it was not how far we could go, but how far could we dare!
The tide couldn’t have been better as we approached the East Sleekburn bridge so we decided to continue on. The next delicate manoeuvre was to ship oars and let the last of the incoming tide push us under the A189 bridge into flooded area to the West! Not being the highest of Spring tides we lingered just long enough to let the ebbing flow guide us back the way we came.
