Hello Everyone,
We met at Tall Ships near the slipway, on Sunday the 11th May at 14:30.
There was a slight breeze however the sun was shining. There was a great turnout of 9 people. The crew went out in Crofton through the piers for a row off Blyth Beach.
There will be a rowing session this Sunday. Meet near the Tall Ship at 10.00 a.m. and we will see you there - and remember to bring wellies, if you want to keep your feet dry!
BCRC is to hold a General Meeting at 2.00 p.m. on Sunday 13 April 2025. The venue is the Port Training Services area, i.e. near the head of the slipway, but we shall have to find the most suitable spot at the time then fit the meeting in with the rowing session due. The Agenda for the Meeting is attached to this message. Please note the final entry, AOB: if you have any topic you want to discuss and it's not on the agenda, please let Hugh know in advance. Alternatively, you can raise a topic "from the floor" at the meeting but we prefer the first option, it would give us more time to dig out relevant information, facts, correspondence etc..
BCRC General Meeting Agenda 13 AprilWe now have a new boat store in South Harbour to keep our skiffs in. Safety is our number one priority at BCRC and at the Port of Blyth. Therefore, we need to ensure that club members who will access the shed to retrieve/return our skiffs watch a safety induction film and adhere to mandatory safety instructions on how to keep yourself and others safe whilst on site.
Club officials will ensure that members watch, understand and adhere to mandatory safety instructions on how to keep yourself and others safe whilst on site and maintain training records for audit purposes.
Download and complete the Inductioin Confirmation form once you have watched the induction video. In 2024 the area around our slipway was redevelpoed so we had to row for most of the year on the river Wansbeck. Many thanks to Cambois Rowing Club and Blyth Tall Ships for helping us to stay rowing in 2024 during the redevelopment works next to our slipway, which is now back in use, exclusively for Blyth Community Rowing Club. It was a great day, 4 and a half years ago, for Blyth Community Rowing Club when we moved into the Boat Store adjacent to the slipway on the River Blyth. Due to expansion works within the port we are now seeking alternative accommodation. We will hopefully have use of the slipway during construction works and will definitely be available to visit welcoming venues to row during this period.

Crofton and her crew made good speed heading from the old lifeboat slipway to just past Battleship Warf. Here the crew turned to watch (from a safe distance) the Blyth Energy River Pilot boat at 11:26 assist ship "IT Infinity" depart from Wimbourne Quay. Not sure where the the Barbados flagged vessel was heading to after its short stay in Blyth since 25/08/2022.
Today's crew: Martin, Vince, Ian, Maggie and Andy. Many thanks to Hugh for staying ashore with Elsie sipping coffee and waving us off our merry adventure.
